How To Create Bootable TRK USB Flash Drive?

One of the most famous tools of TRK is probably the winpass shell script that simplifies the execution of chntpw utility to reset or recover the Windows account password. Best of all, TRK is a tiny Linux distribution (less fat) and it is good to boot up from a 128MB USB flash drive. If you still keep one of such smaller thumbdrive, now is just nice to make use of it. Steps to create bootable USB drive for Trinity Rescue Kit 1) Download the latest release of TRK from trinityhome.org and verify MD5 checksum of the downloaded ISO file against the one published in download page. 2) Burn the ISO file to CD/DVD-ROM, with any optical disc authoring software, such as Nero, PowerISO, UltraISO, or the built-in Windows Disk Image Burner feature in Windows 7. 3) Boots up from the TRK CD/DVD-ROM to the TRK (Linux) command prompt. Plug in the USB flash drive and execute dmesg command for the attached USB flash drive device file. As shown in this screenshot, my Apacer 128MB USB flash drive is attached as /dev/sdb in Linux: 4) Now, execute trk2usb command to create the TRK bootable USB flash drive (where -d specify the USB mass storage device file; -s to specify size in MB):
trk2usb -d /dev/sdb -s 128

Read the WARNING message carefully and understand the consequence before entering “ok” to proceed. I have NOT tried a gigabyte thumbdrive with multiple logical drives setup by partition table (wonder will trk2usb destroy the original partitions, even if explicitly specify the logical drive in -d option together with -n).

FLocker is a free and easy to use program, which allows users to Password protect files and lets you view them without requiring any external applications.

With FLocker, you can encrypt a file, then give it to a friend, and they will be able to view the file with no external applications.

To use it, just run FLocker and browse to select the file to compile. Enter your desired password, choose Read only or Extract option and click Compile. FLocker will save the encrypted file on the desktop.

Our Verdict: 3/5 (Good) I found the program quite useful and handy.

Login To Your PC Using Face Recognition Feature With Luxand Blink

Every new version of Windows brings improvements over its previous versions. Microsoft has made progress in numerous fields of their operating system. These fields include the overall interface, desktop customization options, handling our files, and overall security. But the Welcome Screen and the way users login has remained somewhat unchanged. Users have to enter/select their username and then a password to login. Why has there not been a built-in Windows feature to change the way (for the better) users login to Windows? Suppose an exam was being conducted which required candidates to login with their accounts; anybody could login with anybody’s account as long as they knew their username and password.

Presenting an alternative to traditional Windows login and a solution to problems, such as the one above, is Luxand Blink. It provides its users with a different way to login to Windows: through facial recognition.

Luxand Blink is a free application comptable with 32 bit version of Windows Vista and Windows 7. The download size of the application is 8MB and installs in a standard way. For it work properly, of course a web cam is required to be installed in the computer.

The application starts running after the computer starts up but before it has logged on to any account. We can then look into the webcam and have our face recognized by the application. It uses its advance image recognition algorithms to recognize our face. Such is the competence of this application, that whether the lighting is different or our hair are different, Luxand Blink will still recognize our face and log us in.

An application increasing the security of the Windows logon procedure, Luxand Blink will serve many.
